Troop 494 Hiking Stick Program
Troop 494 has a hiking stick program that allows others to acknowledge the many miles each Scout hiked. A hiking stick is awarded for scouts that have hiked at least 20 miles. The various colored caps indicate the number of miles a specific Scout trekked regardless whether the event was backpacking or hiking. Furthermore, the bands depict significant hikes the certain Scout experienced. In conclusion, this program allows each Scout to be acknowledged by others for his accomplishments.
